Akin: Claire McCaskill two-faced on China

(From the Todd Akin campaign)

Over the weekend, Claire McCaskill released a new ad called "China." As usual, McCaskill is saying one thing while doing another.

Claire McCaskill trumpets the fact that she cosponsored the "ENFORCE Act" when most of the Missouri delegation, including Todd Akin, were also cosponsors of this bill (House bill | Senate bill).

Even more surprising, is the fact that Claire voted to protect China's currency manipulation.  Many manufacturers in Missouri who trade with China know first hand the damage that is caused by their currency manipulation. This enables Chinese manufacturers to keep their prices artificially low, pricing out manufacturers paying fair wages. Claire McCaskill voted against S. 1619, the Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act of 2011 while Todd Akin is a supporter and cosponsor of a similar bill in the House.

"Once again, Claire McCaskill is saying one thing while doing another," said Akin spokesperson Ryan Hite. "The truth is that Claire McCaskill voted with China and against Missouri manufacturers when it comes to currency manipulation. It shows how bad McCaskill's record is that she is running ads on issues that she has voted the wrong way on.  Missouri manufacturers know that Claire McCaskill has voted with Obama 98%, including job-killing regulations, the failed stimulus bill, and Obamacare. Claire McCaskill is hurting Missouri and millions of dollars in misleading ads will not change the facts."
