Accused Joplin shooting spree gunman pleads not guilty

During a video arraignment today in Jasper County Circuit Court, Tom Mourning, 26, Joplin, pleaded not guilty to 13 felony counts in connection with a Saturday morning shooting spree.

Judge Joseph Hensley appointed a public defender for Mourning, who is charged with five counts of assault, five counts of armed criminal action, and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

Mourning, who is being held in lieu of $1 million bond, also faces five felony charges in Newton County.

Mourning allegedly shot five people before he surrendered to police at 30th and Pearl.
