Report recommends that former Neosho counselor lose her teaching license

A third DWI conviction is expected to cost a former Neosho R-5 counselor her teaching license when the Missouri State Board of Education meets 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Jefferson City.

Board documentation indicates Wendy J. Briggs, 41, who has not been employed by a school district since she worked for Neosho in the 2010-2011 school year, was involved in a traffic accident September 10. 2012.

"After her crash, respondent was seen 'huffing' from a can of keyboard cleaner," the report to the board says. Briggs was charged with felony driving while intoxicated. She had been convicted twice previously on that same charge. She pleaded guilty on January 6, 2014, and was placed on supervised probation for five years.

The report recommended that the board revoke Briggs' license.
