Joplin doctor bound over for trial on statutory rape, sodomy charges

A Joplin doctor was bound over for trial by Judge Joseph Hensley following a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Jasper County Circuit Court.

The next hearing for Dr. Jeremy Goins, 35, is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 19 in Jasper County Circuit Court Division 2.

Goins allegedly committed the crimes with a 16-year-old girl between February 1, 2016, and February 28, 2017, according to court records.

The probable cause statement said Goins was at first touching the girl inappropriately, eventually progressing to having sexual intercourse with her on four or five occasions at locations in Joplin and Carl Junction.
