Hartzler: Let's give federal money to Christian organizations to handle opioid crisis

In her testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Fourth District Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler explained why providing federal money to faith-based organizations (at one point she refers strictly to Christian organizations) could help solve the opioid crisis in Missouri and the nation.

Addiction is not a religious problem, it is a MEDICAL problem. More religion won’t fix it. We need health care coverage that helps get people to rehab centers that work. Not to church.

If you know anything about addiction, you will learn that the majority are only able to overcome addiction through the help of a higher power. That higher power is God.
Jesus is the answer to every problem.

2:03, Thats great, they wont need my money. Prayers should take care of it. If Christians do not want their money going for reproduction purposes, what makes you think others will agree to have their money go to a church? Its 2 way street.

Karen I agree that religion won't fix the addiction problem. But God can.

Why should God give a care about an addict? Maybe it's his will to simply let them die.

Wow! I don't think so.

Religion can help some folks get clean, but it's not a cure-all, and it certainly shouldn't be getting any government funds.
