Identification of Diamond sailor killed in Pearl Harbor attack, anniversary of Newtonia tornado among top Turner Report/Inside Joplin posts for week

Clifford Goodwin's journey home reached its conclusion today as services were held for the Diamond sailor whose life came to an end December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor.

Goodwin had been officially classified as missing in action until DNA tests recently confirmed that the remains of a sailor killed in the Japanese attack that began World War II were indeed his.

The obituary of Clifford Goodwin was the most visited post on any of my blogs this week.

His life story is one of more than 7,000 obituaries that have appeared in Inside Joplin Obituaries since it launched in November 2013. Number 7,000 was posted Friday.

A look into the more recent past finished fourth on the Turner Report this week. I shared the blog's coverage of the Newtonia Tornado of May 10, 2008 on its 10-year anniversary on Facebook earlier this week and several of you checked it out.

Two of the top 10 posts on the Turner Report dealt with my deletion of comments from the blog and a reader's heated response to that decision.
